Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information Acken Tools (https://acken.com.ng) collects, how it is used, how it is protected, and what rights you have regarding that information. Please read it carefully.

1. How Our Tools Work

All tools on Acken Tools run entirely in your web browser using JavaScript and browser APIs. No files, text, or data you enter into any tool are ever transmitted to our servers. All processing happens locally on your device. This means we have no technical ability to access, read, or store the content you work with.

For example, when you upload a PDF to the Merge PDF tool, that file is read and processed entirely within your browser's memory. Nothing is sent over the network. The same applies to text tools, image converters, calculators, and every other tool on the site.

2. Information We Collect

We do not collect personal information directly. On our production site (acken.com.ng), we use third-party services that may collect limited, anonymised data:

  • Google Analytics (GA4): We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns — such as which pages are visited, which countries users are from, and which browsers are used. This data is aggregated and anonymised and cannot be used to identify individual users. We do not share this data with any third party. Analytics is only loaded on acken.com.ng and www.acken.com.ng — it is never active on localhost, staging, or Cloudflare preview deployments.
  • Google AdSense: We display advertising provided by Google AdSense on our production site. Google AdSense may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to show you relevant advertisements based on your browsing history and interests. We do not control what data Google collects through AdSense. You can review Google's privacy practices at policies.google.com/privacy.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily contact us via the Contact page.

3. How We Use Information

The limited analytics data collected through Google Analytics is used solely to understand how the site is used at an aggregate level — for example, which tools are most popular and which pages need improvement. We use this insight to prioritise new features and improvements. We do not use analytics data for advertising targeting or profiling.

4. Cookies

Acken Tools itself sets one first-party cookie: theme, which stores your light/dark mode preference so it persists between visits. This cookie contains no personal information and is never shared with third parties.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties except:

  • As described above (Google Analytics and Google AdSense, under their respective privacy policies and data processing agreements).
  • Where required by applicable law or valid legal process (such as a court order), in which case we would only disclose what is legally required.

6. Data Retention

Since we do not collect personal data directly, there is nothing for us to retain on our servers. Google Analytics data is retained in our Google Analytics account for 14 months by default, in accordance with Google's data retention settings. You can request deletion of any Analytics data associated with your device by using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

7. Security

Our site is served over HTTPS and hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which provides industry-standard DDoS protection, TLS encryption, and secure edge delivery. Because no user data passes through our servers, the attack surface for a data breach affecting your personal information is extremely limited.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, including the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you (in our case, this is limited to any contact form submissions you have made).
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Opt out of targeted advertising via Google Ad Settings.

9. Third-Party Websites

Our site may contain links to external websites. This Privacy Policy applies only to Acken Tools (https://acken.com.ng). We have no control over the content or privacy practices of external sites and are not responsible for them. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external site you visit.

10. Children's Privacy

Acken Tools does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The site is intended for general audiences. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through our Contact page, please notify us at [email protected] so we can delete it promptly.
